Covid ruined our return last September but Down at the Abbey Festival will be back for its second year this Autumn!
Following the success of our first year in 2019, we are excited to be returning to the historic and beautiful Reading Abbey Ruins.
Expect two stages of stunning live music, gourmet street food, and award-winning craft beer and cider from Siren Craft Brew.
Joining the line up with our latest announcement is up and coming folk singer-songwriter Ellis Ballard. Flamingods front man Charles Prest brings his psych pop solo project Noon Garden. Local singer Damien A. Passmore invites you into his world of pop culture with Singalonga Screentime, a channel-hopping trip through the songs and theme tunes from family favourite films and TV shows! And Jelly & The Disappointing Clown Company will also be bringing the fun for all the family.
Already announced to perform in the historic medieval ruins are festival headliners Snapped Ankles; multi-instrumental singer-songwriter and the Sky Arts nominated LoneLady; Middle Eastern funk-psych band Flamingods; Krautrock-inspired The Utopia Strong who feature Kavus Torabi (Gong), multi-instrumentalist Michael York and 80s Snooker legend Steve Davis; poet songstress Sinead O’Brien; 6Music championed post-punk mob Do Nothing; the Welsh fingerstyle guitar/banjo player Gwenifer Raymond; Indie-folk popstar Bess Atwell; Leeds-based art-rock trio Mush; singer-songwriter Sophie Jamieson and ex Morning Runner singer Matthew Greener.
Leading the local charge are Reading’s alt-indie five piece Adam & Elvis, Oxford’s dream folk musicians Catgod, acoustic duo Tomorrow Bird and the soulful Jen Berkova.
The festival boasts brilliant food and drink alongside the exciting live music. The award-winning Siren Craft Brew will be running the main Festival Bar again, with an array of amazing festival vendors including: Anonymous Coffee, Fat Tabby, Makan Malaysia, The Bowler x Swaadish Curry Sauces & We Are Friends.
