Our Abbey Quarter Tours are now suspended for the winter but we will be back in March for a new season.

Enjoy a walking tour exploring the heart of medieval Reading led by our trained volunteer guides. This tour takes you to the highlights of the Abbey Quarter, including the Hospitium where medieval pilgrims stayed, the impressive conserved Reading Abbey ruins and ends in a unique visit inside the Abbey Gateway, the grand entrance to the Abbot’s Lodgings which became Queen Elizabeth I’s royal residence. Have some myths busted and explore the fascinating history of Reading Abbey Quarter, taking in the ancient and modern stories of this centre, from the lives of Medieval monks to the Georgian schooldays of Jane Austen.
