Join us for a tour inside the newly restored medieval Abbey Gateway and learn about this listed building’s fascinating history and its role in the Abbey Quarter. Hear about the Abbey monks, visiting royalty, links to novelist Jane Austen and the vital conservation work done to bring it back to life. In groups of ten you can then access the Gateway rooftop. A fantastic chance to see an aerial view of the Waterfest setting up, Forbury Gardens and Abbey Ruins. Please note that the Gateway has no step free access and there are uneven steps and floors.
45-minute tour starting at 9.30am, meeting in the Story of Reading Gallery
